Timo Werner appreciates the support of Chelsea fans for himself, even though the striker has not always lived up to expectations.
Sharing with Sky Sports Germany , the German striker admitted: “Sometimes I don’t understand why Chelsea fans support me so much. I’m a striker, tasked with scoring goals, but often miss opportunities. Playing in front of the Chelsea fans is fun, and their support makes me stronger after a difficult time.
I always give my best in every game to make sure the whole team stays positive.”
Werner has been a player who has regularly given candid interviews since joining Chelsea. Last season, the German striker emphasized that if he had scored as expected, coach Frank Lampard might not have been fired.
This season, Werner played 19 matches for Chelsea in all competitions with an average of nearly 57 minutes per game and 6 goals. This striker has only one goal in the Premier League. Werner’s position is often on the bench when Chelsea have recruited Romelu Lukaku.
However, the German player still shows his attitude and aggressive kicking style every time he is present. Werner had to miss 5 rounds in the Premier League because of the influence of the Covid-19 epidemic. The former Leipzig striker is still valued at £45 million, which is quite high compared to the market.
Werner’s Chelsea are not in good form at the moment. The Champions League champions were held 1-1 by Brighton at home. This is the 8th draw of “The Blues” from the beginning of the season and the 5th split in the last 7 matches in the Premier League. The last four matches at the top level in England, Chelsea only drew and lost.
