Mohamed Salah is still giving his all for Egypt in the Africa Cup of Nations, but he certainly knows Liverpool are looking to sign Porto winger Luis Diaz, who is tipped to sign for the Reds. in the coming days.
As negotiations over his new contract continue to stall, it is reported that besides salary, Salah wants to see the determination of the club by bringing in a quality attacking player. Liverpool’s squad is of course incredibly talented, but Salah and Sadio Mane will both turn 30 in the next six months.
Signings like Ibrahima Konate and Diogo Jota have shown effort, but the deal for Diaz – a 25-year-old player – is a big deal. And according to the Mirror, his presence could affect Salah’s decision to renew.
In addition, Diaz will not come in with a huge salary, and so the requirements for Salah’s new contract will not be affected much. The Diaz deal shows that Liverpool are determined to stay at the top even though the current age group of players is affected. Salah will be reassured by that, and another roadblock in his contract negotiations could be broken.
