Harvey Elliott’s journey back from injury is inspiring many young players. The 18-year-old midfielder scored a super product in the first match to return to the field against Cardiff City. Applause broke out in every corner of the Anfield stadium that day. Elliott received praise from the home fans.
The warm hugs of teammates, the familiar hug of coach Jurgen Klopp shows that Elliott’s return has exceeded many people’s expectations. What happened during the 147 days Elliott struggled to heal his trauma and find himself?
Klopp said of the moment he chatted with the youngster at the training center in Kirkby last September: “Honestly, when I came in contact with Elliott after the injury, my mood was even worse. he,”.
“ However, Elliott is perfectly fine. He seems to want to convey the message: Don’t worry, I will come back stronger. From the very first moment, Elliott put himself in a better position than the rest. Elliott is a really special kid,” said Klopp.
That steady, confident mentality explains why it took only 19 minutes for Elliott to come on the field to tear the Cardiff City net. The father of the 18-year-old star burst into tears when he watched his son score for Liverpool.
Mr. Scott is a staunch Liverpool fan. The Kop’s medical team played a key role throughout Elliott’s recovery, including physiotherapist Joe Lewis.
“ He helped me recover in his own way, ” the young British star shared. Physical therapist Chris Morgan and doctor Jim Moxon also contributed significantly to Elliott’s miraculous recovery.
Days after the incident, Elliott underwent surgery in London to repair a fracture and damaged left ankle ligament.
Liverpool’s doctor Jim Moxon once shared about Elliot’s condition on Liverpoolfc.com: ” We don’t put pressure on him by setting a specific recovery time frame. We can only hope He’s back as soon as possible after the recovery program.”
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk regularly visit and chat to ensure Elliott is not isolated from his teammates throughout his recovery.
“ Elliott is completely different. He never complained, not even once. Elliott loves everyone around him, ” said a source in Liverpool.
The young British star regularly works with Dr. David Rydings, who is in charge of physical rehabilitation at Liverpool. In early December, Elliott practiced with the ball again. Just a few weeks later, the guy born in 2003 trained again with the whole team.
“He didn’t lose his football mindset during the break. It would be a crime not to put Elliott on the field when looking at his training sessions. Elliott is coming back to the team soon. after a long-term injury, ” said assistant coach Pep Lijnders.
Elliott showed how ready he was to return as he shone in Liverpool’s 5-1 win over Wrexham. He contributed 1 goal and 2 assists in addition to a convincing performance.
